Larry--
I've scanned your materials. My general reaction is the politics of teaching a course like this are prohibitive right now.
My own course, which is similar to yours, aroused protests from black students. The department has turned it over to a
black colleague of similar views, and he too has faced protests. The protesters insist on taking the far-left perspective of
recent anti-racist activists, who say all black problems are do to white racism.
Still, I admire your fortitude.
Good luck.

Thank you for your
reply and encouragement. Sorry for my slow response, i have been
Under the weather
for the past week. I have been working at this for 4-5 years now, the
Responses have been more pro than con, but always with the join de "will consider
for possible future classes/lecture, to that broad , indeterminateness'
Conclusion, others , frankly admit, as did Dr. Glenn Loury, brown u, "too hot to handle", his Words. I also received negative comments from a colleague at NYU Dr. Steven Hahn, after i questioned his disgraceful interview of Hannah Jones, author of the 1619 Project, as well
As Prof Jonathan Tarbox of u of so cal..as you may know , i am a grad of an HBCU, Chicago State U, married to black lady( now deceased), a elementary school teacher, father of 2 Biracial sons, I grew up in the Chicago area ,a 95 % black neighborhood, was a police officer, working a black district with a black partner for 8 of my 11 years as a police ofc. I believe i have a particular insight into the black world few white people have been exposed too. I previously lived in Hyde park section of Chicago for many years. Hyde park as you well may
Know is home to the u of Chicago, and former pres Barack Obama, my late wife was an
Acquaintance of Michele Obama. It also is home to one of the highest income and educational levels attained by black Americans, as well as having a high rate of interracial marriages.
I have, over the many years, studied the atmosphere and environment of racial attitudes and thinking among the many different black people i have been familiar and others at various levels of interaction. My experiences growing up in a majority black neighborhood, attending majority black schools, my HBCU years, my marriage and fatherhood, working a near all black community, as a police ofc, and the very insightful conversations i had with My wife and sons at our dining room table , and their experiences, my wife being married to a white guy, and my sons and their experiences , often, unpleasant among their black peers, has led me to conclude, unfortunately, that the animosity against white people is currently pervasive within black America, much of the support for BLM, HBCU'S , Reparations, Racial preferences, Aka affirmative action, 1619 project, critical race theory, and more are covertly supported by the middle and upper classes of black Americans. Particular Concern, are the 105 or so, and those trying to be HBCUS like temple univ, and the abundant
Free wheeling racial rhetoric flowing from what I consider to be no more than 'black Madrasas', a check of their behavioral science , afro amaricen syllabus is alarming. I longer believe equality is the primary goal, witness the demands of black students for black only dorms, separate grad ceremonies and so on. This is not conducive to racial harmony, as they continue to avoid scrutiny by the media, academia, and certainly this current Presidential administration. I want to be optimistic . I am an integrationist and have lived my entire life as such. But i am not blind, deaf, or dumb to the reality of present day America and the rise of overt black racism, black nationalism. White people may continue to ignore, (I believe less so now), even deny this at the peril of a multi culture , multi- racial society. I
Hope not. All racism is bad, and needs to be condemned, even black racism.
With respect
